Heading in to March 2024 it was time for State Championships. I was looking to put down some solid numbers in preparation for Nationals in April 2024. I was progressing well and felt in good condition. After competing on the first day of the State Championships, I competed in a basketball game where I suffered a grade 2 tear to my ATFL in my ankle. I healed quickly and started back to training 6 weeks later. Unfortunately it was at this return to training that I discovered that I had a 50% pars defect on the right side of L5.
The decision was made that at this time to take the recovery slowly and to ensure that I would be a stronger, better athlete when I returned.
Whilst I recovered until present, I started coaching High Jump for a local Senior Private School after hours and gained a Level 2 Athletics Development Coach Accreditation from Athletics Australia.
I started slow jogging in October and competed in a few events in December for my School. I successfully won my events with no condition or technique.
I progressed into competing in some local meets in January to see where I was at. In February, I won the State Heptathlon title and in March I won the State Decathlon title. The season ended in April after a disappointing Decathlon which showed so much potential but my conditioning and technical practise was not there to support an outcome that reflected my abilities.
I am now preparing for a huge result in December 2025, which is the first opportunity I have to complete a Decathlon in Australia.
